Commencing in 2006, Research-inspired Policy and Practice Learning in Ethiopia and the Nile region (RiPPLE) is a 5-year Research Programme Consortium funded by the UK's Department for International Development (DFID), aiming to advance evidence-based learning on water supply and sanitation (WSS).  The RiPPLE Consortium is led by the Overseas Development Institute (ODI), in partnership with College of Development Studies at Addis Ababa University; the Ethiopian Catholic Church Social and Development Coordination Office of Harar (ECC-SDCOH)­; International Water & Sanitation Centre (IRC) and WaterAid-Ethiopia.

Research Focus

RiPPLE operates within three regions of Ethiopia, developing a new body of high quality policy and practice-relevant knowledge through the establishment of Learning and Practice Alliances (LPA) at different levels. Now in its third phase,RiPPLE is looking to use evidence from its research themes to build on policy- and practice-learning. 

Our research themes on Growth and Access include sub-themes like Climate Change, Poverty, Financing and Sanitation.
